AREA ATTRACTIONS

ROGERSVILLE HISTORIC DISTRICT -- The second-oldest town in Tennessee, Rogersville is a small, quaint town nestled in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains.   Beautiful structures date from the mid-1700's to the early 1900's.  Including the historic downtown area, beautiful residences, and other buildings in Rogersville.

HAWKINS COUNTY COURTHOUSE -- The oldest courthouse in Tennessee.  On the Courthouse Square (corner of Main and Depot Streets) in Rogersville.  This structure, built in 1836, still serves as the seat of county government.  One of the most photographed buildings in Tennessee.

ROGERSVILLE TRAIN DEPOT & MUSEUM -- This charmingly restored Southern Railway Depot was built in 1890.  The museum inside the building, operated by the Rogersville Heritage Association, on Hawkins County history is a tribute to the heritage of our county. The building also houses the headquarters for the Rogersville Heritage Association.

EBBING & FLOWING SPRINGS -- One of only two of its kind in the entire world, this spring exhibits tidal characteristics as it ebbs and flows every two hours or so.   Located on Ebbing & Flowing Springs Road, off of East Main Street in Rogersville.  Nearby are the Ebbing & Flowing Springs United Methodist Church and the Ebbing & Flowing Springs School.  Please note that the spring is on private property, and permission should be obtained before visiting the spring.

BULLS GAP HISTORIC DISTRICT -- This historic town offers a self-guided tour of the historical homes and buildings throughout Bulls Gap.  Originally the major hub of the Southern Railway system in our area, Bulls Gap has flourished throughout the years.   Now, serving as a hub for the railway of today, Interstate 81, Bulls Gap continues to grow, while not losing the charm of a small, Southern town.

ARCHIE CAMPBELL TOURISM COMPLEX -- Museum, homeplace, and monument to this star from Hee-Haw fame. Operated by the Town of Bulls Gap, located on South Main Street.   The homeplace, originally located on the Hawkins County-Greene County line, was moved to downtown Bulls Gap for visitors to enjoy.  Excellent museum located inside the Bulls Gap Town Hall was ranked as one of the best in East Tennessee.

MASONIC LODGE -- The oldest Masonic Lodge in the state of Tennessee. Originally built as the first branch office of the Bank of the State of Tennessee in the 1830's.   The building was built during the same time period as the Hawkins County Courthouse.  Located on the Courthouse Square (corner of Main & Depot Streets) in downtown Rogersville.

LAUREL RUN PARK -- This park, operated by Hawkins County, was the setting of the 1980's movie The River.  Great facilities include play equipment, tennis courts, baseball/softball field, paved walking track, and boat ramp access to the Holston River.  Located off of US Highway  11-W on Laurel Run Park Road in Church Hill.

DOWNTOWN CHURCH HILL -- Downtown Church Hill offers a wide variety of shops and more, reminding visitors how far many downtowns have come in development.  Located on the corner of Main Boulevard and Central Avenue in Church Hill.

ROGERS CEMETERY -- This cemetery contains the graves of some of Rogersville's most distinguished citizens. Founder Joseph Rogers is buried here. Also buried here is the grandparents of Davy Crockett, who were massacred by hostile Indians in 1779.   Located on Rogans Road in Rogersville.

CROCKETT SPRINGS PARK -- Operated by the Town of Rogersville, this park is a project of the Rogersville Heritage Association. Gazebo, flower gardens, and walking paths. Opposite of the Rogers Cemetery.  Located off of Rogers Street, Crockett Street, and Rogan Road.  Parking is available at the Rogers Cemetery off of Rogans Road.
