MARSH REGIONAL HOLDING BLOOD DRIVE TO HONOR MEMORY

 OF INFANT WHO DIED IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT

KINGSPORT – Marsh Regional Blood Center will hold a memorial blood drive for Ephraim Batten, an infant who died tragically this summer, Saturday, Sept. 19, at Kingsport Town Center.

The blood drive is being organized by the Moms Club of Kingsport and the parents of Ephraim Batten to honor the memory of the Jonesborough infant, who died in a tragic accident in July. Ephraim was three weeks old.

The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., near the upper mall entrance between JC Penney and Belk. Kingsport Town Center, formerly Fort Henry Mall, is located at 2101 Fort Henry Drive.

As many as three lives may be saved each time a person donates blood – and an individual’s blood donation to Marsh Regional stays local to help people in this region. Marsh Regional supplies blood to 21 healthcare facilities in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. 

Donors who give during the month of September will be eligible to win two tickets to an Atlanta Braves game and a Char-Broil Quickset gas grill.

            To donate blood, individuals must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Persons with a cold, sore throat, fever, flu or fever blisters or who are taking antibiotics may not donate. Donors should eat a balanced meal before giving blood.
