WRGS has a tradition of service in Rogersville and Hawkins
County since 1954.  WRGS has always been owned and
operated locally by the Beal family.  Philip Beal has been
owner and manager since 1972.  Most of our employees
have been a part of the WRGS family for 10 to 30 years. 
WRGS employees are active in the community and are
involved in their churches, civic clubs and local
organizations.  Our target audience is 25 to 54 years of age.

WRGS operates at 1370 on the AM dial with 1000 watts of daytime power.  WRGS is on the air 24 hours each day and is also heard on the internet at www.wrgsradio.com  from anywhere in the world.

WRGS plays the great classic country music and today's country hits.  During the mid part of our broadcast day we feature the great southern gospel artists and many of our local and
regional gospel groups.  We feature the music preferred by over 70 PERCENT of Hawkins County residents!

We feature world and national news on the hour from the USA Radio Network.  Local news has always been our top priority.  Our reporters cover all county and city events and meetings.  The only newspaper
in our county is twice weekly, and we are known as "THE DAILY NEWS IN HAWKINS COUNTY!"

WRGS originates live play-by-play of all Cherokee High School football, boys and girls basketball, baseball and softball games.  We do selected games of other schools in our area.  We are
members of the East Tennessee State University Sports network. We are "THE SOURCE FOR SPORTS!"

The most special WRGS program is "THE WORLD FAMOUS SWAP SHOP" This program has been on the air each Monday through Saturday since August of 1954.  Each morning, beginning at 9:45, listeners call in to buy, sell, trade, tell jokes and stories and just have a great time.  Swap Shop stays on the air until
the calls stop, which is usually about 90 minutes to two hours.  We have a waiting list of businesses who want to sponsor a segment of Swap Shop.

Events

WRGS is a major sponsor of Heritage Days in Historic Rogersville, a top 10event in the Southeast in October - and Rogersville's 4th of July Celebration in the City Park.  This event features major entertainers including Tracy Byrd and Brad Paisley and one of the largest fireworks displays in America. We area proud sponsor in the Charlie Chase Coming Home Concerts. which have featured Lonestar , Tim McGraw, and others to benefit Relay For Life, American Cancer Society for Hawkins County.
