July, Month of Prayer, Fasting and Repentance in Tennessee
HJR-803 passed the Tennessee House and Senate and is signed into law by Governor Bill Lee calling for July 2024 to be a month of Prayer, Fasting and Repentance for our state and nation.Believing God gave all men a prescription in dark times to see a nation changed and healed, we believe II Chronicles 7:14 is still relevant in the 21st century.June 28th will be a launch for a multitude of local observances. It will be in Nashville on Legislative Plaza from 11:30-12:30 or moved to the House Chamber in case of rain.A Calendar is available when Rep Monty Fritts will visit each county, meeting fellow Christians, at their county courthouse reading the Resolution and praying.Hawkins County is invited to meet at the county courthouse on July 2nd at 2pm.Every Church is invited to create their own prayer and fasting activities.For more information, contact Of One Accord Ministry, ofoneaccord@yahoo.com and ask for a copy of the resolution and a calendar of activities.

The Hawkins County Health Department of the Tennessee Department of Health is bringing awareness to human trafficking as a major public health concern with a planned Red Sand Project installation at Rogersville City Park on Friday, July 26th from 1pm to 4pm. A Red Sand Project installation is an event where participants pour red sand into the cracks of sidewalks, in areas with high foot traffic, to symbolize victims of human trafficking who fall between the cracks of getting help. Community members will be invited to participate by pouring sand into cracks of pavement and concrete and place their handprint in red paint on a banner to be displayed in front of Hawkins County Health Department in recognition of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

Human Trafficking Awareness - Saturday, July 27, 2024, between 10am and 2pm. Location is at the Rogersville City Park Pavillion across from the pool. We will have an information station set up at the park for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons day that is July 30th, 2024. Our Community Walk for East Tennessee will take place in August in Rogersville. Please reach out if you have any further questions. We are hoping with more community awareness and education, that others will learn more of what to look for and be able to recognize a victim in public to get help. Hawkins County EMS envites you to FAIR ON THE SQUARE...a day dedicated to a healthier tomorrow. The event location is at Occasions on the Square, 101 West Main St., Rogersville TN. starting at 1pm-5pm Topics are: heart attack, stroke and sepsis awareness, overdose and Narcan awareness, stop the bleed, community (hands-only) CPR, child safety and injury prevention awareness. There will be Public Information Tables with Hawkins County E-911 Emergency Communicaitons, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Hawkins County EMS, Marsh Regional Blood Center, Highlands Emergency Air Rescue and Transport, Hawkins County Memorial Hospital and Hawkins County Health Dept. Cherokee Football Booster Club 1st Annual Mattress Fundraiser is on Saturday, July 27 fom 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at Cherokee High School Gymnasium. Beautyrest mattresses are featured, all sizes are available, and over 25 mattresses will be on display. The mattresses are brand new with full factory warranties. Delivery is available and all of forms of payment will be accetped. Financing is also available. Mattress accessories available include adjustable bases, luxury pillows and mattress protectors. All proceeds benefit the Cherokee High Football team.

The Happy Hearts Quilt Guild meets on the first Friday of every month. The next meeting is August 2nd, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church on 621 Old Stage Road in Surgoinsville, TN. Our purpose is to educate, share, promote and keep alive the craft and tradition of quilt-making to its members. Coffee & socializing begins at 9:30am and the meeting begins at 10:00am. Remote Area Medical – RAM® – a major nonprofit provider of pop-up clinics delivering free, quality dental, vision and medical care to those in need – is seeking volunteer medical, dental and vision professionals and general support staff for its Oct. 12-13 clinic. The two-day clinic is to be held at Clinch School, located at 1540 Clinch Valley Road, Eidson, TN 37869. RAM is also in need of general support volunteers to help set up on Friday, Oct. 11 and take down on Sunday, Oct. 13. Overnight parking volunteers to greet patients are also needed, and interpreters can volunteer to aid patients through the process, either in the parking lot or during clinic operations. Individuals do not need to work in the medical field to volunteer as general support. If you or your organization would like to volunteer your time to help provide free healthcare services to the Eidson, Tennessee and surrounding communities, please visit our website at www.ramusa.org or call us at 865-579-1530. All RAM services are free, and no ID is required. Free dental, vision and medical services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The Shepherd Center on Main St. in Downtown Rogersville will continue doing their Veteran Food Distribution on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. They will be distributing the food in the back of the Shepherd Center, starting at 1pm. Veterans are to bring ID.

Array of Hope Ministries
Array of Hope Ramos Ministries is a nonprofit 501C3 Missions Organization, offers disaster relief items to individuals in need. We have a thrift store that helps to fund our Senior's Hope, a mission to homebound shut-in Seniors, and a free clothing program for the homeless and low income in Hawkins and surrounding counties. Community Clothes Closet
Community Clothes Closet located at 118 Hwy. 11W Suite F (in the Food Lion shopping complex) has served the region for more than 25 years. We are a non profit organization with all the proceeds staying in the community. We have a variety of different things. Our store hours are Tues-Fri 10-4:30 and Saturday 10-3:30. Our store operates on donations. Our store also helps families in the community in need.

Douglas Cherokee’s Educational Opportunity Centers Program (EOC) is now serving the citizens of Hawkins County. Are you an adult wanting to go to college or TCAT? Do you need help completing your FAFSA or help with FAFSA verification or scholarships? Or are you an adult wanting to get your GED/HiSET? Let EOC help you achieve your educational and career goals! Community Lending Libraries
The Hancock and Hawkins County Health Departments and the College of Public Health at ETSU are providing three community lending libraries located at each of the health departments. The “Little Libraries” will be located outside in Rogersville and Church Hill and inside at Sneedville. To donate new or gently used children’s books, contact one of the health departments.

The Lighthouse Community Center
The center will be open each Wednesday from 11:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,located on 712 Caney Creek Rd in Rogersville. The Health Safety Standards of masks and social distancing will be in place.
Earn Your High School Diploma for Free

The Appalachian Homesteaders Association
The Appalachian Homesteaders Association meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Holston Electric Auditorium in Rogersville at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the association is to share knowledge of sustainable agriculture, homestead systems, and small acreage farming with association members and the entire community.
There are many topics of interest, including, but not limited to, home water and power supply, raising poultry and small animals, sustainable farming, growing and using medicinal herbs, beekeeping, and permaculture. For more information, call (423) 272-2309 or email us.
Coast Guard Auxiliary
We are coming to Cherokee and Douglas Lake to serve the boaters in distress and assist in Recreational Boating Safety. We are an all-Volunteer Force Multiplier created in 1939 by the US Coast Guard to serve and help in local and regional water. We are actively recruiting for members in the East TN area. Hawkins County Cancer Support Group Monthly Meeting
The Hawkins County Cancer Support Group will meet on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Hope Community Church on Hwy 11W in Rogersville. Our mission is to educate and inform, as well as to financially assist families as needs arise. Travel is expensive, medicines are expensive, and life can be hard after a diagnosis of cancer. Telamon Early Head Start
We are recruiting children for our Early Head Start center located in the Greene County side of Bulls Gap. Telamon Early Head Start is accepting applications for free child care for families with children six weeks to 3 years of age. Services include free childcare five days a week. Free Adult Education Classes
Adult Education classes are offered Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and night classes are offered Monday and Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We have free classes and free testing. It is the best time to work on obtaining your High School Equivalency degree. We also have access to different programs for financial aid if students are interested in furthering their education after getting their diplomas. Lighthouse Community Center
The Lighthouse Community Center is open every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on 712 Caney Creek Rd across from the Striggersville Fire Department. They have plenty of items to choose from. We accept all donations. All proceeds benefit the needy in our community.
Mooresburg Friends and Neighbors Thrift Store
The Mooresburg Friends and Neighbors Thrift Store is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday each week from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All proceeds benefit Mooresburg Community Center, a nonprofit organization that provides over 45 hot meals per day. For more information, call (423) 293-0073.

Hawkins County Election Commission Meetings
The commission meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 3:45 p.m.in the Election Office conference room on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse Annex to conduct any business that comes before the commission. CEASE Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
CEASE Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault aids in developing and securing resources for victims of family violence and sexual assault and provides sanctuary to victims and their families. It is a nonprofit organization serving Claiborne, Grainger, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, and Union Counties in East Tennessee.
Our program has two emergency shelters in Hamblen and Claiborne Counties with a combined total of 26 beds. CEASE was founded in 1980 in response to the need for safe shelter for women and children who were displaced from their homes because of domestic violence. In 1999, it became a dual-issue program, also responding to the need for crisis services and advocacy for victims of sexual assault.
CEASE, Inc. provides services to persons without regard to race, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity (or expression), religion, handicap, or disability.
